Nigeria domination at the 2014 MTV Africa Music Awards

Nigeria turned out the biggest winners at the 2014 MTV Africa Music Awards bagging the most and biggest awards at the show.

Hosted by American actor/comedian Marlon Wayans and boasting show stopping performances from Trey Songz, Miguel and French Montana; the MTV Africa Music Awards 2014 was a big night for music in Africa as Durban, South Africa housed the majority of musical forces across the continent who attended the prestigious ceremony which returned after the long break.

Pop star Davido seemed to the biggest winner of the night, walking with the ‘Best Male’ and coveted ‘Artiste of the Year’ awards. The ‘Aye’ singer also topped it off with an energetic performance. Other Nigerian winners include Tiwa Savage (Best Female), Flavour (Best Live Peformer) and Clarence Peters who also won two awards – ‘Best Video’ and ‘Transform Today by Absolut’. South African duo Mafikizolo also bagged two awards – ‘Best Group’ and ‘Song of the Year’ and Uhuru with the ‘Best Collaboration’ and ‘Song of the Year’ with Mafikizolo.

The show which was attended by hundreds and broadcast to over 400 million viewers worldwide saw some electrifying performances from the likes of US stars Miguel, Trey Songz, French Montana as well as their African counterparts Davido, Flavour, Mafikizolo, Khuli Chana, Dr SID, Don Jazzy and lots more.
