Verification of pages was introduced by Facebook in May, 2013 to help ensure brand authenticity and in a statement from Facebook on verification;

 The Verified Pages are being rolled out to just a small group of prominent public figures (celebrities, journalists, government officials, popular brands and businesses) with large audiences”.

The Official Page of President Goodluck Jonathan is the only other page that is currently verified by FACEBOOK in Nigeria and has just joined the elite list.

Shopkonga, the official Facebook page of currently has over 400,000 likes and according to Social Bakers has the highest number of Nigerian fans in e-commerce across Africa. This has been achieved by exceptional user engagement, social media excellence and online customer service.

Konga recently became the first ecommerce platform in Nigeria to become verified on Twitter.
